Notes from Exile: Christmas
Log/Verse: daily reflections from prison, written every morning at my bunk. Part poem, part log book.
Written from my bunk on Christmas Day.
CHRISTMAS DAY
A guard wears a Santa
hat.
There’s a tree in the
TV room,
Christmas carols on
the radio.
My friend Bill says
they depress
him,
but Raul says, “they
beautiful.”
“Beautiful always good,” he
says. “Even if break
my heart.”
